For When I am Weak

We so badly want to succeed, to accomplish, to win

We want to earn our blessing and overcome our sin

We want to be strong, to lift up others, to rise above

But life is about the glory of God, and not of us

He must make us weak, small, with victory seemingly impossible

For as it is written, is it must be:

(Jdg 7:2 NKJV) And the LORD said to Gideon, “The people who are with you
are too many for Me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel claim
glory for itself against Me, saying, ‘My own hand has saved me.’

Enter the thorns in the flesh

So perfectly designed for each of us

Weakness that makes the way for Godly power

We plead for our infirmities to be taken, then the Lord speaks:

(2Co 12:9 NKJV) And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you,
for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly
I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest
upon me.

We will succeed, accomplish, and win the prize

We will be blessed and overcome our sin

We will be strong, lift up others, and rise above

The Glory will to God and not to us

(Psa 115:1 NKJV) Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us,
But to Your name give glory,
Because of Your mercy, Because of Your truth.

  • Amen Mitch, I love this poem it is a powerful reminder of this verse:

Luk 17:10 So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.
