The focus of the paper
1Co 12:4-7 Now there are diversities of gifts but the same Spirit. And there
are differences of administrations (ministries / leadership “offices”) but the
same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same
God which works all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every
man to profit withal.
Nine “diversities of gifts” are distinguished:
1Co 12:8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the
word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
1Co 12:9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by
the same Spirit;
1Co 12:10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to
another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the
interpretation of tongues:
Gifts of healing
Gifts of healing come from the one spirit which is the Word of God:
Joh 6:63 It is the Spirit that makes alive, the flesh profits nothing. The words
that I speak to you are spirit and are life.
Besides the gift of ‘kinds of tongues’, the gifts of healing probably will top the list
of controversy by the way the many perversions are displayed in spiritual Babylon.
God is still healing people physically today, but not in the way big name television
preachers and those who want the masses to follow them, presents it. Respect for
our physical bodies is Godly and we should be careful whatever we consume (This
link has very helpful information:
A healthy body is something we all should pray for continuously, because even our
physical bodies are ‘for the Lord’ through which we bring glory to God:
1Co 6:12 All things are lawful to me, but not all things profit. All things are
lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.
1Co 6:13 Meats for the belly and the belly for meats, but God shall destroy
both it and them. But the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and
the Lord is for the body.
1Co 6:20 for you are bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your
body and in your spirit, which are God’s.
Rom 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God to
present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, pleasing to God, which is
your reasonable (rational / visible / outward) service.
So ‘gifts of healing’ also indeed applies to physical healing and ‘effectual fervent’
prayers should be offered for that:
Jas 5:14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and
let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
Jas 5:15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise
him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
Jas 5:16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that
ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth
Behind all physical things (including sickness and disease) is a spirit [‘things which
do not appear’] sent by God:
Heb 11:3 Through faith we understand that the worlds [Greek: “aion” = the
lifespan of anything that was created] were framed [Greek: katartizō = put in
place / order] by the word of God [John 6:63 = spirit], so that things which
are were not made of things which do appear.
Job 2:4 And Satan answered the LORD, and said, Skin for skin, yea, all that
a man hath will he give for his life.
Job 2:5 But put forth thine hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and
he will curse thee to thy face.
Job 2:6 And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, he is in thine hand; but
save his life.
Job 2:7 So went Satan forth from the presence of the LORD, and smote Job
with sore boils from the sole of his foot unto his crown.
Job and the people around him saw boils, but God knew it was an evil spirit sent
by God Himself to afflict Job with all his trials. Every human sickness (named
by medical science or psychiatry, for example) is a physical manifestation of a
spiritual act by God. Christ’s “name” (meaning His doctrine – His mind) is the higher
authority (the ‘highly exalted’ heaven) above any “name” in the physical age or in the
Eph 1:20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and
set him at his own right hand in the heavens,
Eph 1:21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and
every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to
Php 2:9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him [Christ], and given him
a name which is above every name:
However, physical healing must always be seen as a type and shadow of spiritual
healing. The spiritual healing of the heart / mind is God’s primary and ultimate focus:
Luk 4:18-19 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me
to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the broken hearted,
to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to
set at liberty them that are bruised, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
To the maturing elect this is clear to see: Jesus spoke about inward spiritual healing
of ‘poor,’ ‘broken hearted,’ ‘captives,’ ‘blind,’ ‘bruised’ – even ‘the acceptable year of
the Lord’ which is in ‘earnest’ (or down payment) in His maturing elect in this age:
Eph 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the
gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed
with that holy Spirit of promise,
Eph 1:14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the
purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
This is the ‘greater’ (spiritual) works Jesus referred to when He said this:
Joh 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works
that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I
go unto my Father.
Everyone will be healed from all ailments, physical and spiritual, ultimately because
there is absolutely no sickness, no disease, and no injury or hurt that God cannot
and will not heal – it just happens at the time He appoints – His will, WILL BE DONE:
Sickness in whatever form (physical or spiritual) is because of our marred condition
(being in a sinful body of death with a natural mind) which is by God’s design to
teach us something so important:
1Pe 2:20 For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall
take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently,
this is acceptable with God.
1Pe 2:21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for
us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
1Pe 2:22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
1Pe 2:23 Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he
threatened not; but committed himself to Him that judgeth righteously:
1Pe 2:24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we,
being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were
healed [this verb is in the Greek aorist tense]
