Hi S___,

This is a really good question. I have to say that of all the doctrines that I’ve learned since coming into the truth, this has been one of the most difficult for me grasp.

Any time you see the name Jehova or Yahweh in the Bible it is referring to Jesus Christ. The people in the Old Testament did not know God the Father, the only God they knew was Jesus Christ. In the New Testament it is revealed that Christ was in fact the creator of everything, and that he is working on behalf of his Father. I’ll show you the scriptures now to support this doctrine.

We are told in the book of John, that no one at anytime has seen the Father, nor heard his voice. We only know him through his son Jesus Christ.

Joh 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

Joh 5:37 And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape.

There are many examples of Jehova/ Yahweh speaking directly to people in the Old Testament, so this cannot be God the Father. Moses even saw Jehova’s back parts.

Exo 33:11 And the LORD (G3068) spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle.

Exo 3:3 And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt.
Exo 3:4 And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I.

Exo 33:22 And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a clift of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by:
Exo 33:23 And I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen.

Whenever you see “LORD”, written in all capital lettes in the OT, it is the Hebrew name for Jehova.

H3068
יהוה
yehôvâh
yeh-ho-vaw’
From H1961; (the) self Existent or eternal; Jehovah, Jewish national name of God: – Jehovah, the Lord. Compare H3050, H3069.

Jesus Christ is the creator of all, and we are told in Genesis that Jehova created everything.

Joh 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Joh 1:2 The same was in the beginning with God.
Joh 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

Col 1:15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
Col 1:16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
Col 1:17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

Gen 2:4 These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD (H3068) God made the earth and the heavens,

I hope this helps answer your question,

Mitch
