All of humanity has to deal with the question of, “why are we all here on this earth”. Even if someone does not ask the question that directly, there is a deep seeded desire to feel significant, that our life must have some purpose, that we must have some kind of value.
This is part 2 of the study ‘Why am I significant?’

What have you built your life upon that has failed you?
We naturally want to be successful in the flesh in some way, and there is an endless list of how we seek these things. The truth is that we are Ambassador’s for Christ, his representatives, this is why we are valuable. This is what gives us a firm foundation to stand on… our house is then built on the rock.
2Co 5:20 NKJV Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.
Joh 20:21 NKJV Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.
Mat 5:16 NKJV Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
We are his ambassadors when we do what he says.
Mat 7:24 NKJV “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock:
Mat 7:25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.
Our lives are to be a living demonstration that obeying God’s commands is the best way to live this life. The trials will come, and your life does not fall apart. You can lose your job, health, beauty, family, etc. and still have joy and a righteous life amidst all of the trials.
Jas 1:2 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials,
Jas 1:3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.
Jas 1:4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.
This is possible because of the fruits of God’s spirit that he gives us.
These fruits are not contingent on things going well for us. We will have these fruits in the midst of great storms. That is a miracle! The things of the flesh fail us when the trials come.
Go over this study on Ambassadors for Christ and consider the calling you have been given in Christ Jesus. If God keeps you as one of his faithful elect, then you will be a part of saving all of mankind. You will be used in this life to truly change the lives of others and give them the truth that will never pass away. What on this earth could possibly be more valuable? http://aionios.com/2011-03/ambassadors_for_christ/
Does the way you spend your time and the things you pursue in life demonstrate to others that God is the most valuable thing that exists?
2. Do you have a fear of others rejecting you?
Many people seek the approval of other to feel valuable, so naturally we fear being rejected, and denied the approval that we so deeply desire. This is a very natural fear that I have struggled with greatly in my own life. Let me ask a few rhetorical questions to put this in perspective.
Does man’s approval matter more than God’s?
Is man more powerful than God?
What can man do to us that God does not cause?
Pro 29:25 NKJV The fear of man brings a snare, But whoever trusts in the LORD shall be safe.
Heb 13:6 NKJV So we may boldly say: “THE LORD IS MY HELPER; I WILL NOT FEAR. WHAT CAN MAN DO TO ME?”
What can man do to me? NOTHING! God causes everything.
Eph 1:11 NKJV In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will,
Isa 45:7 NKJV I form the light and create darkness, I make peace and create calamity; I, the LORD, do all these things.’
When we fear man, or just desire their approval, we are no longer fearing God and seeking his approval.
Pro 9:10 NKJV “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
Gal 1:10 NKJV For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ.
The most that the approval of man can give us is temporary satisfaction. When we are given eyes to see past this, we will have a desire to seek God’s approval over man’s.
3. When making decisions, do you care more about what pleases the people or around you or what pleases God?
We are the clay and God is the potter. Why are we so concerned about what the other pots think? Do they have any great wisdom of themselves? This is the foolishness of the lies we hear in our own minds.
Isa 64:8 But now, O LORD, You are our Father; We are the clay, and You our potter; And all we are the work of Your hand.
Isa 64:9 Do not be furious, O LORD, Nor remember iniquity forever; Indeed, please look—we all are Your people!
Wisdom comes from God so why would we seek it from carnal men?
1Co 2:12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
1Co 2:13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
1Co 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
Jas 1:5 Now if anyone of you is lacking wisdom, let him be requesting it from God, Who is giving to all generously and is not reproaching, and it shall be given to him.”
There is wisdom in a multitude of counselors, but the counselors need to be giving you the word of God!
Pro 15:22 Without counsel, plans go awry, But in the multitude of counselors they are established.
1Co 11:1 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.
Psa 119:160 CLV The sum of Your word is truth, And all of Your righteous ordinances are eonian.”
We need to be careful to listen to wise men, who themselves fear God and keep his commands.
Pro 13:20 He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.
Remember, it is the wise man who builds his house upon the rock, and the rock is the word of God.
Mat 7:24 (KJV) Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
So we want to search for the truth of God, not the opinions and traditions of men.
Jer 29:13 (NKJV) And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.
Psa 119:72 The law of thy mouth is better unto me than thousands of gold and silver.
Pro 4:1 Hear, my children, the instruction of a father, And give attention to know understanding;
Pro 4:2 For I give you good doctrine: Do not forsake my law.
Pro 4:3 When I was my father’s son, Tender and the only one in the sight of my mother,
Pro 4:4 He also taught me, and said to me: “Let your heart retain my words; Keep my commands, and live.
Pro 4:5 Get wisdom! Get understanding! Do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth.
Pro 4:6 Do not forsake her, and she will preserve you; Love her, and she will keep you.
Pro 4:7 Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.
Pro 4:8 Exalt her, and she will promote you; She will bring you honor, when you embrace her.
The truth of God’s words will set us free.
Joh 8:32 NKJV And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
We cannot serve two masters. We either serve God or we do not.
Mat 6:24 “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.
Jas 4:4 Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
4. When you are feeling down, how do you seek to lift your spirits?
It is so common when we are feeling down about ourselves, or life in general, that we run to our idols to comfort us. The only true comfort comes from God, his word, and his people.
2Co 1:3 (NKJV) Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort,
2Co 1:4 Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
2Co 1:5 For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ.
Psa 42:5 Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him For the help of His countenance.
Isa 40:30 (NKJV) Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall,
Isa 40:31 But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.
2Co 7:5 For indeed, when we came to Macedonia, our bodies had no rest, but we were troubled on every side. Outside were conflicts, inside were fears.
2Co 7:6 Nevertheless God, who comforts the downcast, comforted us by the coming of Titus,
2Co 7:7 and not only by his coming, but also by the consolation with which he was comforted in you, when he told us of your earnest desire, your mourning, your zeal for me, so that I rejoiced even more.
So when you are downcast, don’t run to your idols, run to the Lord.
Always remember that the trials you suffer are necessary for you to learn God’s ways. Stumbling is just a part of that journey.
Psa 119:7 NKJV It is good for me that I have been afflicted, That I may learn Your statutes.
Pro 24:16 NKJV For a righteous man may fall seven times And rise again, But the wicked shall fall by calamity.
