Universal Salvation Turned into Lascivousness

You’re certainly correct that many people who believe in universal salvation also use this an excuse to live life however they want, or for “convenience” to use your words. This is not what the scriptures teach.

The Apostle Paul dealt with this very same spirit. When he taught that all men would be saved by God’s grace, many thought that they could sin all they want and grace would abound all the more.

Rom 6:1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?

But he says, God forbid! We are suppose to be righteous like Christ and walk in newness of life.

Rom 6:2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
Rom 6:3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into
his death?
Rom 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised
up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

Jude also was dealing with the same evil spirit.

Jud 1:4 For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.

So here is the truth of Grace. It is God’s chastening and teaching that has appears to all men to make us all righteous like his Son.

Tit 2:11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
Tit 2:12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly,
righteously, and godly, in this present world

Here is the word for teaching, which is what grace does.

G3811 paideuō

Rev 3:19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

1Co 11:32 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be
condemned with the world.

The world is condemned now because they are not being judged, or chastened yet. God will chasten all men to be righteous, but each in their own order. There are some he is dealing with now, and the rest he will deal with later.

1Co 15:22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
1Co 15:23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming.

Thank you! This discussion and sequence of Scriptures address well the error of lasciviousness.
