A poem about being tired and not wanting
to partake of things that will be
a determent to our spirit.
by Mitch Kuhn
Oh Lord this life it wears me out
With energy I am in a drought
When I’m tired I just want entertainment
But will this help me get new raiment?
Will it be for me gain
or will it just leave a stain?
I preach to others and am gratified
But will my entertainment leave me disqualified?
During the day I do fight well
At night will I my birthright sell?
All things are lawful for me
But will they help me clearly see?
Lord you know that I need rest
Please deliver me from this test
In the garden I don’t want to sleep
The fruits of the spirit I want to reap
Help me to be still and wait on you
Only you can see me through
